Big Brothers Big Sisters mentors are making a difference in the lives of Washington County children by building self-confidence, supporting academic success and modeling good choices. These children are on a path to success as future adults and leaders in our community–thanks to volunteers like Scott and Jeanne Schneiberg of West Bend.
Over 20 years ago, Scott and Jeanne began volunteering as a BIG couple because they had a desire to mentor a child and make an impact in the local community. They felt that Big Brothers Big Sisters would be the best way to accomplish their goal and make a difference in the life of a child.
After mentoring a 12-year-old boy named Jake for four years and having children of their own, the Schneibergs decided to host an annual fundraiser because they believe so strongly in the mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Washington County. Their event is called, Motoice, LLC, where they host an annual motorcycle ice race in February which continues to be tremendously successful. The Schneiberg’s generosity and commitment to Big Brother Big Sisters through this event makes a “BIG” impact on so many Washington County children.
In June of 2011. they met a young boy named Ruben and his family at church. After learning Ruben’s story, the Schneibergs worked with Ruben’s mother to enroll him and his three sisters into the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. Naturally, the Schneibergs wanted to mentor Ruben and enrolled their entire family as BIG Family mentoring Ruben. This has proven to be an invaluable experience not only for Ruben, but for the entire Schneiberg family. Ruben is able to become a part of a family with positive male role models which is helping him build his self-confidence, improve his academic standings, and help him make good choices.
We are very proud of the positive impact that the Schneibergs have had on our organization and our kids. They have Started Something BIG and we hop this encourages you to also Start Something BIG.
