Match Support Specialist

Summary Job Description

 

Big Brothers Big Sisters provides a program of prevention and positive skill building by matching children facing adversity with volunteer mentors. Match Support is similar to ongoing case management.  The MSS does not work directly with children but will maintain regular contact with a caseload of volunteers, parents and children on a standardized schedule. Contact is conducted through phone conversations, home visits, and activities.   The purpose of match support is to ensure child safety and to create healthy, long term relationships that change children’s lives and are rewarding for volunteers.

 

MSS also assist in volunteer training, plan and attend group activities, and work at fundraisers.

This is a 20 hours/week position, with potential to grow to full time. It is a flexible schedule but must include 2-3 evenings per week and occasional weekends.  A Bachelor’s degree in a social service field (Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Education) or a degree in another field plus relevant experience is required.   Excellent organizational skills and communication skills, both written and verbal, are required.  Spanish fluency is a plus.  Must pass background check, pre-employment drug test and have own reliable transportation.
