Match Support Specialist – Part-Time
Big Brothers Big Sisters provides a program of prevention and positive skill building by matching children facing adversity with volunteer mentors. The primary function of this position is not to work with the children themselves but to provide support to Bigs, Littles, and parents in the mentoring program. The MSS does not work directly with children but will maintain regular contact with a caseload of volunteers, parents and children. This involves contact with children age 6-18 but primarily with adults of all ages through phone conversations, home visits, and activities. MSS staff also assist in volunteer training, plan and attend group activities, and work at fundraisers. The goal of match support is to ensure child safety and to create healthy, long term relationships that change children’s lives and are rewarding for volunteers.
This position works 20 hours/week on a flexible schedule but must include 2 evenings per week and occasional weekends. A Bachelor’s degree in a social service field (Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Education) or a degree in another field plus relevant experience is required. Excellent organizational skills and communication skills, both written and verbal, are required. Spanish fluency is a plus. Must pass background check, pre-employment drug test and have own reliable transportation
