Big Brothers Big Sisters of Washington County (BBBSWC) continues to focus on two mission-critical priorities this summer; recruiting new business partners and high school students to participate in their Beyond School Walls (BSW) career mentoring program that engages new students “Littles” who need career guidance and support from a career mentor “Big.”

Every September, Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of Washington County recognizes the impact of its programming and one-to-one mentoring matches during national Big Brothers Big Sisters month.  

“As Big Brothers Big Sisters month approaches, we celebrate over a century of connection and youth empowerment, with over 56 years in Washington County alone,” says Heidi Sternig, Executive Director at BBBS of Washington County and current “Big Sister.”

Emmy-Award Winning Journalist and former “Big Sister” Katrina Cravey recently gave a video testimonial with her “Little Brother” Armon. Katrina and her family were matched with Armon when he was just 9 years old. They not only spoke about their meaningful and long-lasting relationship, but about why becoming a mentor is as impactful as it is!

In 2025, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Washington County (BBBSWC) entered into partnership with Quad Graphics in Hartford, and West Bend Insurance in West Bend, to bring the “Beyond School Walls” (BSW) career mentoring program to Washington County high school students.

Twenty students participated in the program in the 2025/2026 school year, including 12 students from Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School, 4 from Slinger High School and 4 from West Bend East and West High Schools. Each student, known as a “Little,” was thoughtfully paired with a mentor, or “Big,” from either Quad Graphics or West Bend Insurance, based on their potential career interests and goals.

On Thursday, May 28, 2026, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Washington County (BBBSWC) held their annual Celebration Dinner which recognized seven graduating Big & Little mentoring matches.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Washington County is hosting their 33^rd annual Golf FORE Kids’ Sake fundraiser on Friday, June 5th, at Washington County Golf Course.
